11 SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 682
22 WHEREAS, Members of the Hopkins County Adult Leadership
33 Class are visiting the State Capitol on May 7-9, 2017, and this
44 occasion provides a fitting opportunity to recognize this
55 notable group of civic leaders; and
66 WHEREAS, Sponsored by the Hopkins County Chamber of
77 Commerce, Hopkins County Adult Leadership was created to educate
88 civic-minded individuals about city, county, and state
99 government; the course lasts nine months and involves citizens
1010 representing a wide range of backgrounds and perspectives; and
1111 WHEREAS, Hopkins County Leadership works in cooperation
1212 with such entities as the Sulphur Springs Independent School
1313 District Board, Hopkins County Law Enforcement, Hopkins County
1414 Memorial Hospital, county commissioners, and local businesses to
1515 sponsor different programs every month to help members gain a
1616 better understanding of the community; and
1717 WHEREAS, Each Hopkins County Adult Leadership class
1818 chooses a special project to benefit the community; this year,
1919 the group is working to provide the City of Sulphur Springs with a
2020 sign for announcements and events; and
2121 WHEREAS, Through its efforts to promote a spirit of
2222 volunteerism and community pride, the Hopkins County Adult
2323 Leadership Class is fostering an informed and engaged citizenry,
2424 and the program is helping to build a brighter and more
2525 prosperous future for the Lone Star State; now, therefore, be it
2626 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th
2727 Legislature, hereby recognize May 7-9, 2017, as Hopkins County
2828 Adult Leadership Days at the State Capitol and extend to all
2929 those participating sincere best wishes for a memorable and
3030 enjoyable visit.
