| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, Members of the Hopkins County Adult Leadership |

| 3 | 3 | | Class are visiting the State Capitol on May 7-9, 2017, and this |

| 4 | 4 | | occasion provides a fitting opportunity to recognize this |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | notable group of civic leaders; and |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Sponsored by the Hopkins County Chamber of |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | Commerce, Hopkins County Adult Leadership was created to educate |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | civic-minded individuals about city, county, and state |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | government; the course lasts nine months and involves citizens |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | representing a wide range of backgrounds and perspectives; and |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | WHEREAS, Hopkins County Leadership works in cooperation |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | with such entities as the Sulphur Springs Independent School |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | District Board, Hopkins County Law Enforcement, Hopkins County |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | Memorial Hospital, county commissioners, and local businesses to |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | sponsor different programs every month to help members gain a |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | better understanding of the community; and |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | WHEREAS, Each Hopkins County Adult Leadership class |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | chooses a special project to benefit the community; this year, |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | the group is working to provide the City of Sulphur Springs with a |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | sign for announcements and events; and |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | WHEREAS, Through its efforts to promote a spirit of |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | volunteerism and community pride, the Hopkins County Adult |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | Leadership Class is fostering an informed and engaged citizenry, |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | and the program is helping to build a brighter and more |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | prosperous future for the Lone Star State; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | Legislature, hereby recognize May 7-9, 2017, as Hopkins County |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | Adult Leadership Days at the State Capitol and extend to all |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | those participating sincere best wishes for a memorable and |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | enjoyable visit. |
