| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | recognize Pearland Police Chief Joseph Christopher Doyle, who |
|---|
| 4 | 4 | | is retiring after 38 years of service with the Pearland Police |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | Department; and |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Chief Doyle joined the Pearland Police Department |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | in January of 1979, and his impressive career has included |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | experience in nearly every aspect of police work; in his time |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | with the department, he has served as a detective, a patrol |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | sergeant, and a commander for a multi-agency special weapons and |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | tactics team; and |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | WHEREAS, This exemplary public servant has handled his |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | far-reaching responsibilities with exceptional skill and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | dedication and has acted with courage and tenacity in protecting |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | the community he loves; he is noted for playing an instrumental |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | role in acquiring and implementing the state-of-the-art radio |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | and laptop systems currently in use by the department; and |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | WHEREAS, Chief Doyle was promoted to assistant chief of |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | police in 1994, and he has led the department since his |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | appointment to chief of police in 1999; he is the longest-serving |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | chief in the department's 57-year history; and |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | WHEREAS, A respected and admired member of his community, |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | Chief Doyle has received numerous letters of commendation for |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | exceeding the call of duty in his job performance and for |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | fostering cooperation with law enforcement partners outside of |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | the Pearland department when handling cross-jurisdictional |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | investigations; he has displayed superior judgment in dealing |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | with the unique challenges of law enforcement duty, and his |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | presence at the Pearland Police Department will be greatly missed; |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | Legislature, hereby commend Pearland Police Chief Joseph |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | Christopher Doyle for his many contributions to his community and |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | extend to him best wishes for the future; and, be it further |
|---|
| 35 | 35 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for him |
|---|
| 36 | 36 | | as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate. |
