                    SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 703
 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
 recognize Tony Romo for his many achievements; and
 WHEREAS, Tony Romo was the starting quarterback for the
 Dallas Cowboys from 2006 through 2015; he joined the Cowboys
 after playing for Eastern Illinois University, where he led his
 team to an Ohio Valley Conference championship and was named the
 recipient of the Walter Payton Award; and
 WHEREAS, Over the course of his stellar professional
 football career, he set numerous Cowboys team records, including
 most passing touchdowns and most passing yards, most games with
 at least 300 passing yards, and most games with three or more
 touchdown passes; his 97.1 passer rating is the fourth-highest in
 National Football League history and the highest among retired
 players; and
 WHEREAS, He played his entire career with the Dallas
 Cowboys and led the team to four appearances in the playoffs, and
 he was named to the Pro Bowl four times; his many contributions to
 the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex community include work with the
 United Way, the Make-A-Wish Foundation, and the Society for the
 Prevention of Cruelty to Animals; and
 WHEREAS, Tony Romo has been an exceptional role model for
 the young people of Texas, and it is truly fitting that he receive
 special recognition; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th
 Legislature, hereby commend Tony Romo on his outstanding
 professional football career and his engagement in the community
 and extend to him best wishes for continued success in all his
 endeavors; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
 him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
