| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | recognize Michelle del Castillo-Davis, who is retiring as the |
|---|
| 4 | 4 | | at-risk counselor at Oliveira Middle School after 29 years of |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | exceptional service with the Brownsville Independent School |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | District; and |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | WHEREAS, Michelle del Castillo-Davis joined the |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | Brownsville Independent School District as an elementary school |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | teacher in 1988; she went on to serve as a counselor at the high |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | school level and she has served as a middle school counselor |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | since 2004; she also served for a year as the district's lead |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | middle school counselor; and |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | WHEREAS, A graduate of The University of Texas at Austin, |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | she earned a master of education degree in counseling from The |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | University of Texas at Brownsville, where she has served as an |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | adjunct professor; she is also the clinical supervisor at the |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | university's Community Counseling Clinic; and |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | WHEREAS, Noted for her talent and expertise, she has made |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | numerous presentations to school districts and organizations and |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | has led training sessions for other counselors; she has served as |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | the district's crisis intervention team leader since 2011, and she |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | has been active in a number of professional organizations, including |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | the Texas Counseling Association, the Tip of Texas Counseling |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | Association, and Texas Counselors for Social Justice; and |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | WHEREAS, An exemplary educator and counselor, she is |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | respected and admired by her colleagues and students alike, and |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | her presence at the Brownsville Independent School District will |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | be greatly missed; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | Legislature, hereby commend Michelle del Castillo-Davis on her |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | exceptional service to the people of Brownsville as a teacher and |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | counselor with the Brownsville Independent School District and |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | extend to her best wishes for continued success in all her |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | endeavors; and, be it further |
|---|
| 35 | 35 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |

| 36 | 36 | | her as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate. |
