SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 739
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
recognize Jacoba Hampton, who is retiring from a distinguished
career as a history teacher at Oliveira Middle School; and
WHEREAS, Throughout her teaching career, Jacoba Hampton
has been an innovative, resourceful, and enthusiastic educator,
and she has remained dedicated to helping her students find their
path to success; and
WHEREAS, Mrs. Hampton has taught world, Texas, and American
history in the sixth, seventh, and eighth grades at Oliveira
Middle School, and she has helped guide the history program in
her role as head of the history department; and
WHEREAS, A positive influence in the lives of her students,
Mrs. Hampton has given generously of her time and energy to
assist students with their studies, and she has instilled in them
a sense of pride and a lifelong love of learning; and
WHEREAS, Jacoba Hampton has contributed to the success of
Oliveira Middle School through her leadership and extracurricular
volunteerism, and she has armed her pupils with the skills they
need to compete in the society of tomorrow; the Brownsville
community has greatly benefited from the diligence and hard work
of this talented educator; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th
Legislature, hereby commend Jacoba Hampton for her outstanding
contributions to Oliveira Middle School and extend to her best
wishes in all her endeavors; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for her
as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
