| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | recognize Cynthia S. Castro, principal of Oliveira Middle |

| 4 | 4 | | School, for her 16 years of outstanding service as an educator in |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | the Brownsville Independent School District; and |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | WHEREAS, After having served in the United States Air |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | Force, Cynthia Castro joined the Brownsville Independent School |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | District in 2001 as dean of instruction at Stell Middle School; |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | she went on to serve as dean of instruction at Veterans Memorial |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | Early College High School before becoming principal of Oliveira |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | Middle School in 2012; and |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | WHEREAS, During her tenure as principal, Oliveira Middle |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | School has twice been named Favorite Middle School by the |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | Brownsville Herald, and a number of Oliveira Middle School |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | teachers have received awards; she supervises a staff of 140 and |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | provides activities to facilitate the professional growth of |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | staff members; and |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | WHEREAS, Talented and resourceful, she plays an important |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | role in helping the students of Oliveira Middle School to achieve |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | their highest potential and discover the paths to success; and |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | WHEREAS, A first-rate administrator, she is respected and |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | admired by the faculty and students alike, and her leadership as |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | principal of Oliveira Middle School is an asset to the entire |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | community; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | Legislature, hereby commend Cynthia S. Castro on her exceptional |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | service as an educator and principal with the Brownsville |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | Independent School District and extend to her best wishes for |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | continued success; and, be it further |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |

| 31 | 31 | | her as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate. |
