| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | recognize State Representative Four Price, who has been named the |

| 4 | 4 | | recipient of the Mary Elizabeth Holdsworth Butt Award for Mental |

| 5 | 5 | | Health; and |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | WHEREAS, This prestigious honor is presented by Mental |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | Health America of Texas, the state's longest-serving mental |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | health education and advocacy group; the award is given to a |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | Texan for his or her outstanding contributions to and leadership |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | in improving the lives of Texans affected by mental illness; and |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | WHEREAS, Representative Price is a fourth-generation Texan |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | from Amarillo and is serving his fourth term in the Texas House of |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | Representatives; a graduate of The University of Texas at Austin |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | and Saint Mary's University School of Law, he serves as chair of |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | the House Committee on Public Health, and in 2016 he chaired the |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | House Select Committee on Mental Health; and |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | WHEREAS, As chair of the select committee, Representative |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | Price led a statewide examination of mental health care in Texas |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | that included efforts to identify gaps in service and potential |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | solutions to address those shortfalls; as part of this effort, he |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | led a series of hearings to gather information from more than 100 |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | expert witnesses from a diverse range of professions and made |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | numerous on-site visits to mental health treatment facilities |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | across the state; and |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | WHEREAS, Representative Price has been instrumental in |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | legislative efforts to ensure that those facing mental health |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | challenges have access to the best of treatment and care, and it |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | is truly fitting that he receive special recognition; now, |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | therefore, be it |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | Legislature, hereby commend Representative Four Price on his |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | exceptional work addressing the state's mental health issues and |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | extend congratulations to him on receiving the Mary Elizabeth |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | Holdsworth Butt Award for Mental Health; and, be it further |
