| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | recognize the 17th Annual Breast Cancer Awareness Chili and |

| 4 | 4 | | Bar-B-Que Cook-Off, which is being held October 14, 2017; and |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, This exceptional event was founded in 2000 by the |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | late Patsy Childress as a way to give back to the community; |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | through the years, the event has raised more than $550,000 in |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | charitable contributions; and |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Proceeds from the cook-off benefit the Gifts of |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | Hope, an organization that provides help with day-to-day expenses |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | for patients at the Allison Cancer Center; Gifts of Hope also |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | supports the Hope House, a "home-away-from-home" that is offered |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | free of charge to patients from out of town while they receive |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | treatment; and |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | WHEREAS, Texans are noted for their charitable initiatives, |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | as well as for their enjoyment of community gatherings, and it is |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | hoped that many will attend the 17th Annual Breast Cancer |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | Awareness Chili and Bar-B-Que Cook-Off, as this spirited |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | competition is being organized for a truly worthy cause; now, |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | therefore, be it |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | Legislature, hereby commend the sponsors of the 17th Annual |

| 23 | 23 | | Breast Cancer Awareness Chili and Bar-B-Que Cook-Off and extend |

| 24 | 24 | | to all participants best wishes for a successful event; and, be |
