SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 764 In Memory of Robert Gene Brashear WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas honors and commemorates the life of Robert Gene Brashear, who died April 27, 2017, at the age of 70; and WHEREAS, Robert Brashear was born on July 11, 1946, in Elsa, Texas, to Louis Edward Brashear and Lena Marie McCormick; he and his beloved wife of nearly 50 years, Patricia Jo Brashear, were blessed with two children, Chrystl Laureen Grebo and Cedric Latimer Brashear; and WHEREAS, Mr. Brashear enjoyed a fulfilling, 37-year career as an educator with the Raymondville Independent School District, and his passion for teaching science had a positive impact on the lives of countless area students; he was an active member of the Association of Texas Professional Educators for over 30 years; and WHEREAS, He was an avid outdoorsman, and he operated an outfitting business specializing in hunting and fishing gear; he was a published author and photographer, and his independent publication, South Texas Outdoor Newsletter, received awards for its coverage of outdoor recreation in Texas; and WHEREAS, A man of courage, strength, and compassion, he gave unselfishly to others, and his generous spirit, his love of science and the outdoors, and his enthusiasm for living each day to the fullest will not be forgotten by those who were privileged to have known him; and WHEREAS, He was a devoted husband and father, and he leaves behind memories that will be treasured forever by his family and many friends; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved family of Robert Gene Brashear; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas Senate and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Robert Brashear.
