| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | recognize Hutto Lutheran Church on the occasion of its 125th |
|---|
| 4 | 4 | | anniversary, which is being celebrated on June 25, 2017; and |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Established in 1892, Hutto Lutheran Church was |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | founded as the Swedish Evangelical Lutheran Church by Swedish |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | immigrants who had settled in the region when it was primarily a |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | farming community; today, the church is an affiliate of the |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | Evangelical Lutheran Church in America through the Southwestern |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | Texas Synod; and |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | WHEREAS, Over the years, Hutto Lutheran Church has ministered |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | faithfully to the needs of innumerable Christians, and it has |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | continued to carry out its mission to serve the community through |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | worship, witness, education, and service; and |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | WHEREAS, Under the guidance and wise stewardship of its |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | pastors, the church has grown and implemented numerous outreach |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | ministries in support of Hutto residents; it was a founding |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | organization of the Hutto Community Food Pantry, and the church |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | is active in several programs that serve veterans, adults with |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | special needs, and vulnerable residents in need of financial |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | assistance; and |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | WHEREAS, Hutto Lutheran Church has been a source of strength |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | for congregants during times of bereavement and adversity and a |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | source of fellowship in times of abundance and prosperity; and |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | WHEREAS, The celebration of the church's 125th anniversary |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | is an opportunity to reflect on its rich history and on the |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | ministries it has established to the benefit of the community; |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | Legislature, hereby extend best wishes to the clergy and congregants |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | of Hutto Lutheran Church on the joyous occasion of the church's |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | 125th anniversary; and, be it further |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |

| 34 | 34 | | the church as a memento of this special event. |
