| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, Figure skater Ian Rawn of Plano has distinguished |

| 3 | 3 | | himself by placing fourth in his age division at the 2017 Special |

| 4 | 4 | | Olympics World Winter Games, held March 14-25 in Austria; and |

| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, The only Texan competing in the games, Ian Rawn |

| 6 | 6 | | was among nearly 2,700 athletes from 105 nations to take part in |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | the event, which featured contests in nine different winter |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | sports; and |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, A member of the Dallas Figure Skating Club, |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | Mr. Rawn began skating in 2008 and now spends about nine hours |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | each week perfecting his skills on the ice; this inspiring Texan |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | has trained as a Special Olympics global messenger and has served |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | on the board of Special Olympics Texas; he also enjoys coaching |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | the Richardson Roadrunners basketball team and volunteering with |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | the Dallas Fire Rescue Explorers program; and |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | WHEREAS, With his fine showing at the 2017 Special Olympics |

| 17 | 17 | | World Winter Games, Ian Rawn has proudly represented his state |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | and nation in international competition, and he may indeed take |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | justifiable pride in his outstanding accomplishments; now, |

| 20 | 20 | | therefore, be it |

| 21 | 21 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th |

| 22 | 22 | | Legislature, hereby congratulate Ian Rawn on his fourth place |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | finish at the 2017 Special Olympics World Winter Games and extend to |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | him sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further |

| 25 | 25 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
