| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Hardin County Angels of Care, a nonprofit |

| 3 | 3 | | organization in Lumberton, will host its second annual Back the |

| 4 | 4 | | Badge luncheon at the Lumberton Dome on July 19, 2017; and |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Formed in 2009 by executive director Faye Alston |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | and a group of like-minded individuals, the Hardin County |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | Angels of Care is committed to helping area children who have |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | medical needs by offsetting expenses, including medical |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | equipment, surgeries, and travel and hotel costs associated with |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | their treatment; in 2016, the organization added to its mission |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | of service by holding its first free luncheon for members of law |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | enforcement; and |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | WHEREAS, The Back the Badge event provides the community |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | with a way to give thanks to and show support for police officers, |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | fire personnel, emergency medical responders, dispatchers, district |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | and county attorneys, game wardens, and others who dedicate their |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | careers to public service and safety; and |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | WHEREAS, By promoting peace, keeping offenders off the |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | streets, or putting themselves in harm's way to save lives, these |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | dedicated individuals demonstrate the meaning of heroism, and |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | they are indeed deserving of their fellow citizens' profound |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | respect and gratitude; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | Legislature, hereby recognize July 19, 2017, as Back the Badge Day |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | in Hardin County and honor the first responders and public |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | service personnel of Hardin County for their vital work; and, be |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | it further |

| 28 | 28 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |

| 29 | 29 | | the Hardin County Angels of Care as an expression of high regard |
|---|
