11 SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 793
22 WHEREAS, The Hardin County Angels of Care, a nonprofit
33 organization in Lumberton, will host its second annual Back the
44 Badge luncheon at the Lumberton Dome on July 19, 2017; and
55 WHEREAS, Formed in 2009 by executive director Faye Alston
66 and a group of like-minded individuals, the Hardin County
77 Angels of Care is committed to helping area children who have
88 medical needs by offsetting expenses, including medical
99 equipment, surgeries, and travel and hotel costs associated with
1010 their treatment; in 2016, the organization added to its mission
1111 of service by holding its first free luncheon for members of law
1212 enforcement; and
1313 WHEREAS, The Back the Badge event provides the community
1414 with a way to give thanks to and show support for police officers,
1515 fire personnel, emergency medical responders, dispatchers, district
1616 and county attorneys, game wardens, and others who dedicate their
1717 careers to public service and safety; and
1818 WHEREAS, By promoting peace, keeping offenders off the
1919 streets, or putting themselves in harm's way to save lives, these
2020 dedicated individuals demonstrate the meaning of heroism, and
2121 they are indeed deserving of their fellow citizens' profound
2222 respect and gratitude; now, therefore, be it
2323 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th
2424 Legislature, hereby recognize July 19, 2017, as Back the Badge Day
2525 in Hardin County and honor the first responders and public
2626 service personnel of Hardin County for their vital work; and, be
2727 it further
2828 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
2929 the Hardin County Angels of Care as an expression of high regard
3030 from the Texas Senate.
