| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Honorable Raynaldo T. Lopez is retiring from |

| 3 | 3 | | the San Antonio City Council on May 31, 2017, drawing to a close |

| 4 | 4 | | eight years of exemplary service as the District 6 |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | representative; and |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Ray Lopez has enjoyed a highly successful career |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | in the information and telecommunications industry that has |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | spanned nearly three and a half decades; he served as a director |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | at AT&T until retiring in 2009, and soon thereafter he founded |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | REV Enterprises, an educational technology company; and |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | WHEREAS, Committed to giving back to his community, |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | Mr. Lopez first entered politics in 1990 with his election to the |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | Northside Independent School District Board of Trustees, and his |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | three-term tenure included service as president of the board; he |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | was subsequently elected as a trustee of the Region 20 Education |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | Service Center, a position he held until local voters chose him |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | for the city council in May 2009; and |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | WHEREAS, Throughout his tenure in municipal government, |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | Mr. Lopez has worked tirelessly in behalf of his constituents, |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | and he has further distinguished himself as a member of numerous |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | local boards and committees and as chair of the Transportation, |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | Technology and Utilities Council Committee and the Alamo Area |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | Metropolitan Planning Organization; and |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | WHEREAS, In honor of his many accomplishments, Mr. Lopez |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | was presented with an AT&T Circle of Excellence Award and |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | inducted into the Harlingen Independent School District Hall of |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | Fame; and |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | WHEREAS, This esteemed Texan has been supported in all his |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | endeavors by the love and encouragement of his wife, Evelyn, and |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | he takes immense pride in his four children and his treasured |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | grandchildren; and |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | WHEREAS, Through his unwavering commitment to public |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | service, Ray Lopez has greatly benefited the citizens of San |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | Antonio, and he may indeed reflect with pride on a job well done |
|---|
| 35 | 35 | | as he embarks on the next exciting chapter of his life; now, |
|---|
| 36 | 36 | | therefore, be it |
|---|
| 37 | 37 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th |
|---|
| 38 | 38 | | Legislature, hereby congratulate Raynaldo T. Lopez on his |
|---|
| 39 | 39 | | retirement from the San Antonio City Council and extend to him |
|---|
| 40 | 40 | | sincere best wishes for continued happiness and fulfillment; |
