SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 8
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
recognize the members of the Texas Association of Authors for
their work supporting Texas writers and promoting literacy; and
WHEREAS, Established in 2011, the Texas Association of
Authors is a nonprofit organization comprised of more than 250
authors who help other writers find success through the provision
of workshops, educational events, and marketing opportunities; and
WHEREAS, Members of the association further contribute to
the community by working with other Texas groups and supporting
the Super Readers program, an initiative aimed at encouraging
children to read; last year, through the program, members donated
more than $10,000 in books to schools, libraries, and other
community partners; and
WHEREAS, The Texas Association of Authors is committed to
its ongoing mission of "Bringing Texas Authors to the World," and
its members are indeed deserving of recognition for their work on
behalf of Texas writers and readers; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th
Legislature, hereby commend the members of the Texas Association
of Authors for their efforts to promote Texas writers and support
literacy programs and extend to them best wishes for continued
success; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
the association as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
