| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | recognize the members of the Texas Association of Authors for |

| 4 | 4 | | their work supporting Texas writers and promoting literacy; and |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Established in 2011, the Texas Association of |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | Authors is a nonprofit organization comprised of more than 250 |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | authors who help other writers find success through the provision |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | of workshops, educational events, and marketing opportunities; and |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Members of the association further contribute to |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | the community by working with other Texas groups and supporting |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | the Super Readers program, an initiative aimed at encouraging |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | children to read; last year, through the program, members donated |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | more than $10,000 in books to schools, libraries, and other |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | community partners; and |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | WHEREAS, The Texas Association of Authors is committed to |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | its ongoing mission of "Bringing Texas Authors to the World," and |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | its members are indeed deserving of recognition for their work on |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | behalf of Texas writers and readers; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | Legislature, hereby commend the members of the Texas Association |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | of Authors for their efforts to promote Texas writers and support |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | literacy programs and extend to them best wishes for continued |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | success; and, be it further |

| 24 | 24 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |

| 25 | 25 | | the association as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate. |
