| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | recognize Jesús Garza, who is retiring as president and chief |

| 4 | 4 | | executive officer of the Seton Healthcare Family and as senior |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | vice president of Ascension Health's Texas Ministry Market; and |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Jesús Garza joined the Seton Healthcare Family in |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | 2002 after a distinguished career in private and public sector |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | leadership; he had served as deputy general manager of the Lower |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | Colorado River Authority and as city manager for the City of |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | Austin; during his tenure, he led the city through its downtown |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | revitalization and a period of great economic and population |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | expansion; and |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | WHEREAS, A graduate of The University of Texas and the |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | Lyndon B. Johnson School of Public Affairs, Mr. Garza has been |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | instrumental in establishing community partnerships, including |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | the partnership with Central Health and The University of Texas |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | at Austin that led to the establishment of the Dell Seton Medical |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | Center at The University of Texas; and |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | WHEREAS, Known for his vision and his ability to bring out |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | the best in others, he is active in a wide range of community and |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | professional organizations, such as the board of directors of the |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | San Antonio branch of the Federal Reserve, the American Hospital |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | Association Governing Council, the Catholic Foundation--Diocese |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | of Austin Board of Directors, and United Way of Greater Austin; |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | he received the 2016 Career Achievement Award from the National |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | Association of Latino Healthcare Executives; and |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | WHEREAS, An exceptional administrator and public servant, |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | Jesús Garza is respected and admired by his colleagues, and it is |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | truly fitting that he receive special recognition on the occasion |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | of his retirement; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | Legislature, hereby commend Jesús Garza on his exceptional |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | leadership with the Seton Healthcare Family and Ascension |

| 34 | 34 | | Health's Texas Ministry Market and extend to him best wishes for |

| 35 | 35 | | continued success in all his endeavors; and, be it further |
