| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | recognize the Brazos Valley Council of Governments on the |
|---|
| 4 | 4 | | occasion of its 50th anniversary; and |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, The Brazos Valley Council of Governments is a |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | multipurpose, voluntary organization established by and for the |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | local governments of the Brazos Valley Region of Texas; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, The council represents a geographic area that |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | consists of Brazos, Burleson, Grimes, Leon, Madison, Robertson, |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | and Washington Counties, and it serves more than 315,000 |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | residents; and |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | WHEREAS, For the last five decades, the council has been a |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | clearinghouse for regional data and information; any individual, |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | city, county, or agency can make inquiries to the council for |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | information in areas such as demographics, the workforce and |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | labor market, solid waste and recycling, homeland security |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | issues, transportation, and services for seniors; and |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | WHEREAS, The staff and administrators at the Brazos Valley |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | Council of Governments serve as resources through which local |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | governments in the region can cooperatively identify public |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | needs and go on to improve the quality of life for residents of |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | all seven counties; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | Legislature, hereby commend the members of the Brazos Valley Council |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | of Governments for their exemplary service on behalf of the citizens |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | of the Brazos Valley Region and extend to all congratulations on the |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | council's 50th anniversary; and, be it further |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | the council as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate. |
