SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 817
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
recognize Deputy Andre Caracciolo, of the Tarrant County
Sheriff's Office, who is being honored with a Medal of Valor for
his heroism; and
WHEREAS, Deputy Caracciolo is a decorated veteran of the
United States Army who completed a tour of duty in Iraq; he has
been a member of the Tarrant County Sheriff's Office for more
than nine years; he is a field training officer and serves as a
member of the North Patrol Division and the sheriff's tactical
unit; and
WHEREAS, On December 30, 2016, Deputies Andre Caracciolo
and Robert Meza responded to a dispatched call to assist the fire
department; upon arrival at the scene, the deputies observed a
vehicle and the primary residence partially engulfed in flames;
and
WHEREAS, When they approached the residence, they heard
voices from within the burning structure, and disregarding their
own safety, they entered the building to locate and rescue the
occupants; despite the presence of explosions elsewhere in the
residence, the deputies pushed forward and located a man in the
kitchen area and escorted him outside to safety; Deputy
Caracciolo then reentered the home and was able to confirm that
no one else was inside; and
WHEREAS, Deputy Caracciolo suffered smoke inhalation and
required medical attention as a result of his heroic actions; it
is truly fitting that he receive special recognition for his
bravery; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th
Legislature, hereby commend Deputy Andre Caracciolo on his quick
thinking and decisive action and extend to him best wishes for
continued success in all his endeavors; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for him
as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate.
