| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |
|---|
| 3 | 3 | | recognize Deputy Andre Caracciolo, of the Tarrant County |
|---|
| 4 | 4 | | Sheriff's Office, who is being honored with a Medal of Valor for |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | his heroism; and |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Deputy Caracciolo is a decorated veteran of the |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | United States Army who completed a tour of duty in Iraq; he has |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | been a member of the Tarrant County Sheriff's Office for more |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | than nine years; he is a field training officer and serves as a |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | member of the North Patrol Division and the sheriff's tactical |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | unit; and |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | WHEREAS, On December 30, 2016, Deputies Andre Caracciolo |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | and Robert Meza responded to a dispatched call to assist the fire |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | department; upon arrival at the scene, the deputies observed a |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | vehicle and the primary residence partially engulfed in flames; |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | and |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | WHEREAS, When they approached the residence, they heard |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | voices from within the burning structure, and disregarding their |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | own safety, they entered the building to locate and rescue the |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | occupants; despite the presence of explosions elsewhere in the |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | residence, the deputies pushed forward and located a man in the |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | kitchen area and escorted him outside to safety; Deputy |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | Caracciolo then reentered the home and was able to confirm that |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | no one else was inside; and |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | WHEREAS, Deputy Caracciolo suffered smoke inhalation and |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | required medical attention as a result of his heroic actions; it |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | is truly fitting that he receive special recognition for his |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | bravery; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | Legislature, hereby commend Deputy Andre Caracciolo on his quick |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | thinking and decisive action and extend to him best wishes for |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | continued success in all his endeavors; and, be it further |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for him |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate. |
