SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 830 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize Brandy D. Douglas for her outstanding work as a legislative intern in the office of Senator Royce West; and WHEREAS, Brandy Douglas is a student at the Texas Southern University Thurgood Marshall School of Law in Houston; she is an active participant in numerous student committees and associations and expects to earn her law degree in May of 2018; and WHEREAS, As an intern in the senator's office, Brandy played an integral role in the success of "Team West"; her many responsibilities included attending committee hearings and summarizing the proceedings, primarily those of the Committees on Intergovernmental Relations, Nominations, and Higher Education; she also researched, analyzed, and provided feedback on bills, drafted questions for floor debate, and spent time with constituents; and WHEREAS, During her internship, Brandy gained firsthand knowledge of the governmental process and insight into the issues facing our communities and our state, and she was an invaluable asset to the staff in the office of Senator West; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th Legislature, hereby commend Brandy D. Douglas on her exemplary work as a legislative intern for Senator Royce West and extend to her best wishes for the future; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for her as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
