| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | recognize Brandy D. Douglas for her outstanding work as a |

| 4 | 4 | | legislative intern in the office of Senator Royce West; and |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Brandy Douglas is a student at the Texas Southern |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | University Thurgood Marshall School of Law in Houston; she is an |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | active participant in numerous student committees and associations |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | and expects to earn her law degree in May of 2018; and |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, As an intern in the senator's office, Brandy |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | played an integral role in the success of "Team West"; her many |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | responsibilities included attending committee hearings and |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | summarizing the proceedings, primarily those of the Committees |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | on Intergovernmental Relations, Nominations, and Higher |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | Education; she also researched, analyzed, and provided feedback |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | on bills, drafted questions for floor debate, and spent time with |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | constituents; and |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | WHEREAS, During her internship, Brandy gained firsthand |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | knowledge of the governmental process and insight into the |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | issues facing our communities and our state, and she was an |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | invaluable asset to the staff in the office of Senator West; |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | Legislature, hereby commend Brandy D. Douglas on her exemplary |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | work as a legislative intern for Senator Royce West and extend to |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | her best wishes for the future; and, be it further |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
