| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas honors and |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | commemorates the life of Scott Deem, who died in the line of duty |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | on May 18, 2017; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Scott Deem was a six-year veteran of the San |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | Antonio Fire Department; he was dedicated to serving his |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | community, and he lost his life while performing search and |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | rescue operations at a massive fire; and |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | WHEREAS, He was a beloved member of his community and an |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | exceptional firefighter who was widely admired by his colleagues |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | and his fellow citizens throughout the community; and |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | WHEREAS, Over the course of his distinguished career, he |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | handled the unique challenges of fire service with courage and a |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | deep commitment to public service; and |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | WHEREAS, A man of strength, compassion, and kindness, he |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | gave unselfishly to others, and his generous spirit and |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | enthusiasm for living will not be forgotten by those who were |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | privileged to share in his life; and |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | WHEREAS, He was devoted to his family, and he leaves behind |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | memories that will be treasured forever by all those who held him |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | dear; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | family of Scott Deem; and, be it further |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | Senate and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in |
