| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Since inducting its first member in 1951, the |

| 6 | 6 | | Texas Sports Hall of Fame has honored the athletic careers of |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | more than 300 men and women; in 1993, the institution opened a |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | museum in Waco to chronicle the lives of these legendary |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | individuals and to preserve the history of sports in Texas for |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | present and future generations; and |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | WHEREAS, The 2017 class of inductees are former Houston |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | Cougars National Collegiate Athletic Association women's |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | volleyball players Rita Buck-Crockett and the late Flo Hyman, |

| 14 | 14 | | former Texas A&M and Los Angeles Rams defensive back Dave |

| 15 | 15 | | Elmendorf, Texas A&M University track and field coach Pat Henry, |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | 2008 Olympic all-around gymnastics champion Nastia Liukin, |

| 17 | 17 | | former University of Texas track and football star Eric Metcalf, |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | Los Angeles Rams defensive coordinator Wade Phillips, and former |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | Dallas Cowboys All-Pro safety Darren Woodson; and |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | WHEREAS, Through their outstanding skill and dedication, |

| 21 | 21 | | these esteemed Texans have furthered the proud tradition of |

| 22 | 22 | | athletic excellence in the Lone Star State, and they are indeed |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | deserving of this prestigious honor; now, therefore, be it |

| 24 | 24 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th |
