| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Veteran Affairs and Border Security Committee |

| 3 | 3 | | of the Texas Senate is tasked with handling duties relating to |

| 4 | 4 | | legislation that benefits the nation's veterans and service |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | members and maintains the security of the Texas border; and |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Five college student veterans served the |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | committee with distinction during the 85th Legislature as |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | interns; over the course of the session, these veterans worked |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | tirelessly to assist the committee in its work, and their |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | perseverance and dedication played a significant role in the |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | committee's ability to perform its responsibilities; and |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | WHEREAS, The interns serving the committee were Gwen |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | Carmichael, Brad Burnett, Brandon Gajeton, Matthew Hurst, and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | Pedro Solis; their service was in keeping with the highest |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | traditions of the United States armed forces, and they brought |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | great credit to themselves, their institutions of higher |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | education, and the military community at large; now, therefore, |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | be it |

| 19 | 19 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | Legislature, hereby commend the veterans who served as |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | interns for the Veteran Affairs and Border Security Committee |

| 22 | 22 | | on their exceptional service to the Texas Senate and extend to |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | them best wishes for continued success in all their endeavors; |
