| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | recognize the City of Dallas for the vital role it has played in |

| 4 | 4 | | the growth and progress of the Lone Star State; and |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, On June 6, 1936, the Texas Centennial Exposition |

| 6 | 6 | | opened at Fair Park in Dallas; the celebration of science, |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | industry, culture, and the arts attracted more than six million |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | people, and it helped bring the relatively unknown City of Dallas |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | into the national spotlight; and |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | WHEREAS, In preparation for the historic event, Fair Park |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | was modernized with the iconic art deco architecture of the era; |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | for 75 years, the architectural features constructed for the |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | exposition have served as an impressive backdrop for the State |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | Fair of Texas; and |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | WHEREAS, The Texas Centennial Exposition displayed to the |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | world the ability of the City of Dallas to host national events |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | and the Lone Star State's sophistication in the fields of science |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | and technology; in the decades that followed, Texas became |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | renowned for its diverse and robust economy and its many |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | acclaimed cultural arts programs; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | Legislature, hereby honor the City of Dallas for promoting the |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | strength and vitality of our state and extend best wishes to its |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | citizens for many more successful events in the future; and, be |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | it further |

| 26 | 26 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
