| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | join Texans across the state in celebrating January 31, 2017, as |

| 4 | 4 | | Kleberg County Day at the Capitol; and |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Kleberg County was organized in 1913 by the Texas |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | Legislature and is named in honor of early settler Robert Justus |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | Kleberg; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Located south of Corpus Christi and bordering the |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | Gulf of Mexico and Baffin Bay, Kleberg County was inhabited by |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | Karankawa and Coahuiltecan Indians when the early Spanish |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | explorers arrived; the area became a part of the Spanish province |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | of Nuevo Santander; and |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | WHEREAS, Kingsville is the county seat and largest town, |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | and other communities include Riviera and Loyola Beach; the |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | county offers a wide range of recreational opportunities and |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | events, including boating, hunting, fishing, the Padre Island |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | National Seashore, the annual Naval Relief Festival, and the |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | Fiesta de Colores; and |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | WHEREAS, The citizens of Kleberg County are eagerly facing |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | the future while continuing to celebrate their rich and colorful |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | past; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | Legislature, hereby commend the citizens of Kleberg County on |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | their many contributions to the growth and prosperity of our |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | state and extend to them best wishes for a memorable Kleberg |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | County Day at the Capitol; and, be it further |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | the people of Kleberg County as an expression of esteem from the |
|---|
