SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 879 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize Pauline Moore of Brownwood on the grand occasion of her 105th birthday; and WHEREAS, Pauline Moore was born May 4, 1912, in Macon, Georgia; she graduated from Wesleyan College in Macon and went on to earn a master's degree in religious education from the Woman's Missionary Union Training School in Louisville, Kentucky; and WHEREAS, During her time in Louisville, her future husband, the late John Allen Moore, proposed to her in a letter while he was serving as a missionary in Yugoslavia; they were married in Rome in 1940 and enjoyed 56 years of marriage together until John passed away; and WHEREAS, They served together as missionaries in Yugoslavia until they were forced out by the Nazis, whereupon they continued their work in Austria and Switzerland; in 1951, they adopted two children, Edward and Marilyn, from children's homes in Germany; in 1978, the family moved to Brownwood, where Mrs. Moore was active at First Baptist Church for many years; and WHEREAS, Pauline Moore has lived through times and experienced events that many people only know through history books; her life has given her a unique perspective on today's society, and there is much to be learned from the wisdom she has gained over the years; and WHEREAS, Mrs. Moore is a beloved and respected member of her community; she is noted for her warmth, her wit, and her wise counsel, and her enthusiasm for living each day to the fullest is an inspiration to others; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th Legislature, hereby pay tribute to Pauline Moore and extend to her best wishes on the occasion of her 105th birthday; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for her as a memento of this milestone in her life.
