| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | recognize Pauline Moore of Brownwood on the grand occasion of her |
|---|
| 4 | 4 | | 105th birthday; and |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Pauline Moore was born May 4, 1912, in Macon, |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | Georgia; she graduated from Wesleyan College in Macon and went on |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | to earn a master's degree in religious education from the Woman's |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | Missionary Union Training School in Louisville, Kentucky; and |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, During her time in Louisville, her future |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | husband, the late John Allen Moore, proposed to her in a letter |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | while he was serving as a missionary in Yugoslavia; they were |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | married in Rome in 1940 and enjoyed 56 years of marriage together |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | until John passed away; and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, They served together as missionaries in |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | Yugoslavia until they were forced out by the Nazis, whereupon |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | they continued their work in Austria and Switzerland; in 1951, |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | they adopted two children, Edward and Marilyn, from children's |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | homes in Germany; in 1978, the family moved to Brownwood, where |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | Mrs. Moore was active at First Baptist Church for many years; and |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | WHEREAS, Pauline Moore has lived through times and |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | experienced events that many people only know through history |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | books; her life has given her a unique perspective on today's |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | society, and there is much to be learned from the wisdom she has |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | gained over the years; and |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | WHEREAS, Mrs. Moore is a beloved and respected member of |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | her community; she is noted for her warmth, her wit, and her wise |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | counsel, and her enthusiasm for living each day to the fullest is |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | an inspiration to others; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | Legislature, hereby pay tribute to Pauline Moore and extend to |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | her best wishes on the occasion of her 105th birthday; and, be |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | it further |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | her as a memento of this milestone in her life. |
