SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 880 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize the late Marshall Crouch, the first director of the Texas 4-H Conference Center, on the occasion of the dedication of a memorial in his honor; and WHEREAS, The Texas 4-H Conference Center is a 78-acre retreat and meeting space overlooking scenic Lake Brownwood; the center hosts youth camps during the summer and corporate events, workshops, and reunions throughout the rest of the year; Mr. Crouch served as the center's director for 15 years; and WHEREAS, Mr. Crouch began serving with the Texas AgriLife Extension Service as an assistant county agent in 1954, and he began working with the service's state 4-H program four years later; he became director of the Texas 4-H Conference Center in 1974, the year before it opened, and under his outstanding leadership, the center became a choice location for 4-H Club events and family gatherings; and WHEREAS, The Marshall Crouch Memorial site was established in a landscaped area near the administration building, where summer campers begin their days with the flag ceremony and end their days with fellowship after dinner; plans for the site include a memorial marker and additional enhancements to the area; and WHEREAS, Marshall Crouch laid the groundwork for excellence in management, programming, and service at the Texas 4-H Conference Center; although his presence is greatly missed, his proud legacy will continue to enrich the lives of citizens long into the future; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th Legislature, hereby honor the late Marshall Crouch for setting the Texas 4-H Conference Center on a path for long-term success and extend to all associated with the center best wishes for the future; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared in his honor.
