| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | recognize the late Marshall Crouch, the first director of the |
|---|
| 4 | 4 | | Texas 4-H Conference Center, on the occasion of the dedication of |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | a memorial in his honor; and |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | WHEREAS, The Texas 4-H Conference Center is a 78-acre |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | retreat and meeting space overlooking scenic Lake Brownwood; the |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | center hosts youth camps during the summer and corporate events, |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | workshops, and reunions throughout the rest of the year; |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | Mr. Crouch served as the center's director for 15 years; and |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Crouch began serving with the Texas AgriLife |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | Extension Service as an assistant county agent in 1954, and he |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | began working with the service's state 4-H program four years |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | later; he became director of the Texas 4-H Conference Center in |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | 1974, the year before it opened, and under his outstanding |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | leadership, the center became a choice location for 4-H Club |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | events and family gatherings; and |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | WHEREAS, The Marshall Crouch Memorial site was established |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | in a landscaped area near the administration building, where |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | summer campers begin their days with the flag ceremony and end |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | their days with fellowship after dinner; plans for the site |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | include a memorial marker and additional enhancements to the |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | area; and |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | WHEREAS, Marshall Crouch laid the groundwork for excellence |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | in management, programming, and service at the Texas 4-H |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | Conference Center; although his presence is greatly missed, his |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | proud legacy will continue to enrich the lives of citizens long |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | into the future; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | Legislature, hereby honor the late Marshall Crouch for setting |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | the Texas 4-H Conference Center on a path for long-term success |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | and extend to all associated with the center best wishes for the |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | future; and, be it further |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared in his |
|---|
| 35 | 35 | | honor. |
