| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The University of Houston has provided the Texas |

| 3 | 3 | | Legislature with an impressive group of Fellows from its Hobby |

| 4 | 4 | | School of Public Affairs during the 85th Session; and |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, The Hobby Fellowship program was launched in 2012 |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | to give undergraduate students the opportunity to work as |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | full-time interns in the Texas Capitol; each Fellow is assigned |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | to the office of a state legislator and helps support its |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | operations by attending meetings and hearings, interacting with |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | constituents and other stakeholders, and carrying out a range of |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | other functions; in addition to gaining valuable experience in |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | the field of public service, they learn more about the |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | legislative process and the issues facing citizens of the Lone |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | Star State; and |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | WHEREAS, The dedicated students who have served as Hobby |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | Fellows during the 85th Legislature are Troy Allen, Jennifer |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | Edwards, J Ehlinger, Jon Garcia, Maycie George, Mariah Grayson, |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | Emily Joslin, Jason LaBarbera, Rish Oberoi, and Giovanni Perez; and |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | WHEREAS, Through their hard work and commitment to |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | excellence, the 2017 Hobby Fellows have rendered invaluable |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | service to their respective legislative offices, and they are |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | indeed deserving of special recognition for their efforts; now, |

| 23 | 23 | | therefore, be it |

| 24 | 24 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th |

| 25 | 25 | | Legislature, hereby commend the Fellows from the University of |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | Houston Hobby School of Public Affairs for their outstanding |

| 27 | 27 | | contributions to the Texas Legislature and extend to them sincere |
