| 4 | 4 | | Committee, which is hosting the first annual Water Resources and |

| 5 | 5 | | Conservation Symposium on July 14, 2017; and |

| 6 | 6 | | WHEREAS, The Texas Senate District 29 Environmental Advisory |

| 7 | 7 | | Committee is chaired by Karl Rimkus, the environmental compliance |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | program manager for the City of El Paso's Environmental Services |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | Department; and |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | WHEREAS, Inspired by the work of Dr. Bill Hargrove and Josiah |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | Heyman, researchers at The University of Texas at El Paso, the |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | committee organized the symposium with the goal of encouraging |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | students to pursue careers related to water management; the |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | symposium will provide students opportunities to network with |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | industry, academic, and public administration professionals; and |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | WHEREAS, El Paso has been a national and international |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | leader in developing strategies to ensure the availability of |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | clean, affordable water; the State Water Implementation Fund for |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | Texas was created to address this important subject, and it has |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | received widespread public support; and |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | WHEREAS, Managing, conserving, and developing water resources |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | are top issues in the southwestern area of the United States, and |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | it is truly fitting that the Water Resources and Conservation |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | Symposium receive special recognition; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | Legislature, hereby commend the Texas Senate District 29 |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | Environmental Advisory Committee and its chair, Karl Rimkus, on |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | their work in organizing the Water Resources and Conservation |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | Symposium and extend to all best wishes for a successful event; |
