| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas honors and |

| 6 | 6 | | commemorates the life of United States Marine Corps Captain Jake |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | Frederick, who died in the line of duty on December 8, 2016, at |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | the age of 32; and |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Jake "Red Stripe" Frederick was an exemplary |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | citizen and a devoted Marine whose courage, deep faith, and |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | dedication to duty were an inspiration to all those who had the |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | privilege of sharing in his life; and |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | WHEREAS, Captain Frederick was commissioned as an officer |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | in the Marine Corps after earning a degree in petroleum |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | engineering at The University of Texas at Austin; he served with |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | distinction for eight years and was deployed with Marine Fighter |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | Attack Squadron 115 when he gave his last full measure of |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | devotion in service to the country he loved; and |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | WHEREAS, Jake Frederick was a devout Christian who |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | practiced his faith in his daily life, and he was a fine example |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | of honor and integrity for those with whom he served; and |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | WHEREAS, He and his beloved wife, Kiley Frederick, were |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | blessed with a son, Colt, and were expecting a daughter, Mayley; and |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | WHEREAS, Jake Frederick was a devoted son, brother, husband, |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | and father, and he leaves behind memories that will be cherished |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | forever by his family and many friends; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | family of Captain Jake Frederick; and, be it further |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |

| 31 | 31 | | his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas |

| 32 | 32 | | Senate and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in |
