55 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas honors and
66 commemorates the life of United States Marine Corps Captain Jake
77 Frederick, who died in the line of duty on December 8, 2016, at
88 the age of 32; and
99 WHEREAS, Jake "Red Stripe" Frederick was an exemplary
1010 citizen and a devoted Marine whose courage, deep faith, and
1111 dedication to duty were an inspiration to all those who had the
1212 privilege of sharing in his life; and
1313 WHEREAS, Captain Frederick was commissioned as an officer
1414 in the Marine Corps after earning a degree in petroleum
1515 engineering at The University of Texas at Austin; he served with
1616 distinction for eight years and was deployed with Marine Fighter
1717 Attack Squadron 115 when he gave his last full measure of
1818 devotion in service to the country he loved; and
1919 WHEREAS, Jake Frederick was a devout Christian who
2020 practiced his faith in his daily life, and he was a fine example
2121 of honor and integrity for those with whom he served; and
2222 WHEREAS, He and his beloved wife, Kiley Frederick, were
2323 blessed with a son, Colt, and were expecting a daughter, Mayley; and
2424 WHEREAS, Jake Frederick was a devoted son, brother, husband,
2525 and father, and he leaves behind memories that will be cherished
2626 forever by his family and many friends; now, therefore, be it
2727 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th
2828 Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved
2929 family of Captain Jake Frederick; and, be it further
3030 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
3131 his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas
3232 Senate and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in
3333 memory of Jake Frederick.
