SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 959
WHEREAS, Hayden L. Wolf of Big Sandy distinguished herself
by being selected as the 2015 American Honey Princess by the
American Beekeeping Federation; and
WHEREAS, An organization of more than 4,700 members, the
American Beekeeping Federation works in the interests of all
beekeepers, large and small, throughout the country; after
serving as the Texas Honey Queen for the Texas Beekeepers
Association in 2014, Ms. Wolf won the title of American Honey
Princess in the national competition, during which contestants
representing their respective states were judged on the basis of
their beekeeping knowledge, communication skills, and poise
under pressure; and
WHEREAS, In fulfilling her responsibilities as American
Honey Princess, Ms. Wolf served as an ambassador for the
federation and the beekeeping industry; she made appearances at
25 fairs, festivals, and farmers markets from Maine to California
and delivered a number of educational presentations at schools
and civic groups; she also took part in 19 live radio and
television interviews and was the subject of 22 newspaper
articles, in addition to maintaining a Facebook page, a YouTube
channel, and a children's blog, Buzzing Across America, in behalf
of the federation; her public awareness and promotional efforts
collectively reached over three million people; and
WHEREAS, This accomplished young woman is currently a
student at Kilgore College, where she is earning a degree in
culinary arts; she plans to continue her education at a four-year
university or culinary school and hopes one day to operate her
own farm-to-table restaurant; and
WHEREAS, Hayden Wolf proudly represented her state and the
beekeepers of the United States, and the experience she gained
during her time as American Honey Princess is sure to benefit her
in the years ahead; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th
Legislature, hereby honor Hayden L. Wolf on her reign as the 2015
American Honey Princess and extend to her sincere best wishes for
the future; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
Ms. Wolf as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate.
