| 10 | 10 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 11 | 11 | | SECTION 1. Section 21.0442(b), Education Code, as added by |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | H.B. 3349, Acts of the 85th Legislature, Regular Session, 2017, is |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | amended to read as follows: |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | (b) A person is eligible for admission to an educator |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | preparation program created under this section only if the person: |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | (1) has been issued a high school diploma, a high |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | school equivalency certificate, or a postsecondary credential, |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | certificate, or degree; |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | (2) has seven years of full-time wage-earning |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | experience, including experience obtained while serving in the |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | United States armed services, within the preceding 10 years in an |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | approved occupation for which instruction is offered; |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | (3) holds with respect to that occupation a current |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | license, certificate, or registration, as applicable, issued by a |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | nationally recognized accrediting agency based on a recognized test |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | or measurement; and |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | (4) within the period described by Subdivision (2), |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | has not been the subject of a complaint filed with a licensing |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | entity or other agency that regulates the occupation of the person, |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | other than a complaint that was determined baseless or unfounded by |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | that entity or agency. |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|---|
| 35 | 35 | | Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|---|
| 36 | 36 | | Act takes effect December 1, 2017. |
