66 AN ACT
77 relating to eligibility for admission to an educator preparation
88 program for certification in trade and industrial workforce
99 training.
1010 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1111 SECTION 1. Section 21.0442(b), Education Code, as added by
1212 H.B. 3349, Acts of the 85th Legislature, Regular Session, 2017, is
1313 amended to read as follows:
1414 (b) A person is eligible for admission to an educator
1515 preparation program created under this section only if the person:
1616 (1) has been issued a high school diploma, a high
1717 school equivalency certificate, or a postsecondary credential,
1818 certificate, or degree;
1919 (2) has seven years of full-time wage-earning
2020 experience, including experience obtained while serving in the
2121 United States armed services, within the preceding 10 years in an
2222 approved occupation for which instruction is offered;
2323 (3) holds with respect to that occupation a current
2424 license, certificate, or registration, as applicable, issued by a
2525 nationally recognized accrediting agency based on a recognized test
2626 or measurement; and
2727 (4) within the period described by Subdivision (2),
2828 has not been the subject of a complaint filed with a licensing
2929 entity or other agency that regulates the occupation of the person,
3030 other than a complaint that was determined baseless or unfounded by
3131 that entity or agency.
3232 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
3333 a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
3434 provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
3535 Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
3636 Act takes effect December 1, 2017.
