55 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
66 AN ACT
77 relating to funding for public school career and technology
88 programs.
99 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1010 SECTION 1. Section 42.154(a), Education Code, as effective
1111 September 1, 2017, is amended to read as follows:
1212 (a) For each full-time equivalent student in average daily
1313 attendance in an approved career and technology education program
1414 in grades eight [nine] through 12 or in career and technology
1515 education programs for students with disabilities in grades seven
1616 through 12, a district is entitled to:
1717 (1) an annual allotment equal to the adjusted basic
1818 allotment multiplied by a weight of 1.35; and
1919 (2) $50, if the student is enrolled in two or more
2020 advanced career and technology education classes for a total of
2121 three or more credits.
2222 SECTION 2. Section 42.154(c), Education Code, is amended to
2323 read as follows:
2424 (c) Funds allocated under this section, other than an
2525 indirect cost allotment established under State Board of Education
2626 rule, must be used in providing career and technology education
2727 programs in grades eight [nine] through 12 or career and technology
2828 education programs for students with disabilities in grades seven
2929 through 12 under Sections 29.182, 29.183, and 29.184.
3030 SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2017, if it
3131 receives a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each
3232 house, as provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution.
3333 If this Act does not receive that vote, this Act takes effect on the
3434 91st day after the last day of the legislative session.
