9 | 9 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
10 | 10 | SECTION 1. Subchapter B, Chapter 531, Government Code, is | |
11 | 11 | amended by adding Section 531.0997 to read as follows: | |
12 | 12 | Sec. 531.0997. TEXAS WOMEN'S HEALTH PROGRAM; REQUIRED | |
13 | 13 | SERVICES FOR MENTAL HEALTH, BEHAVIORAL HEALTH, AND SUBSTANCE ABUSE. | |
14 | 14 | (a) In this section, "Texas women's health program" means a program | |
15 | 15 | operated by the commission that is substantially similar to the | |
16 | 16 | demonstration project operated under former Section 32.0248, Human | |
17 | 17 | Resources Code, and that is intended to expand access to preventive | |
18 | 18 | health and family planning services for women in this state. | |
19 | 19 | (b) The health care services provided under the Texas | |
20 | 20 | women's health program must include screening and treatment for: | |
21 | 21 | (1) mental health conditions; | |
22 | 22 | (2) behavioral health conditions; and | |
23 | 23 | (3) substance abuse disorders. | |
24 | 24 | (c) The executive commissioner shall adopt rules necessary | |
25 | 25 | to implement this section. | |
26 | 26 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect December 1, 2017. |
