55 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
66 AN ACT
77 relating to the disclosure of certain family members who are
88 required to register as lobbyists in personal financial statements
99 filed by public officers and candidates.
1010 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1111 SECTION 1. Section 572.021, Government Code, is amended to
1212 read as follows:
1313 Sec. 572.021. FINANCIAL STATEMENT REQUIRED. Except as
1414 provided by Section 572.0211, a state officer, a partisan or
1515 independent candidate for an office as an elected officer, and a
1616 state party chair shall file with the commission a verified
1717 financial statement complying with Sections 572.022 through
1818 572.0253 [572.0252].
1919 SECTION 2. Subchapter B, Chapter 572, Government Code, is
2020 amended by adding Section 572.0253 to read as follows:
2121 Sec. 572.0253. INFORMATION ABOUT CERTAIN LOBBYIST
2222 REGISTRATIONS. An individual shall identify on the financial
2323 statement each individual related to the individual within the
2424 first degree by consanguinity or affinity, as determined under
2525 Subchapter B, Chapter 573, who is required to register as a lobbyist
2626 under Chapter 305.
2727 SECTION 3. The changes in law made by this Act to Subchapter
2828 B, Chapter 572, Government Code, apply only to a financial
2929 statement filed under Subchapter B, Chapter 572, Government Code,
3030 as amended by this Act, on or after January 8, 2019. A financial
3131 statement filed before January 8, 2019, is governed by the law in
3232 effect on the date of filing, and the former law is continued in
3333 effect for that purpose.
3434 SECTION 4. This Act takes effect January 8, 2019.
