| 10 | 10 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 11 | 11 | | SECTION 1. Section 572.021, Government Code, is amended to |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | read as follows: |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | Sec. 572.021. FINANCIAL STATEMENT REQUIRED. Except as |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | provided by Section 572.0211, a state officer, a partisan or |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | independent candidate for an office as an elected officer, and a |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | state party chair shall file with the commission a verified |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | financial statement complying with Sections 572.022 through |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | 572.0253 [572.0252]. |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | SECTION 2. Subchapter B, Chapter 572, Government Code, is |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | amended by adding Section 572.0253 to read as follows: |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | Sec. 572.0253. INFORMATION ABOUT CERTAIN LOBBYIST |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | REGISTRATIONS. An individual shall identify on the financial |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | statement each individual related to the individual within the |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | first degree by consanguinity or affinity, as determined under |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | Subchapter B, Chapter 573, who is required to register as a lobbyist |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | under Chapter 305. |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | SECTION 3. The changes in law made by this Act to Subchapter |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | B, Chapter 572, Government Code, apply only to a financial |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | statement filed under Subchapter B, Chapter 572, Government Code, |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | as amended by this Act, on or after January 8, 2019. A financial |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | statement filed before January 8, 2019, is governed by the law in |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | effect on the date of filing, and the former law is continued in |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | effect for that purpose. |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | SECTION 4. This Act takes effect January 8, 2019. |
