A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
relating to the construction of transportation projects by certain
regional mobility authorities.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
SECTION 1. Subchapter E, Chapter 370, Transportation Code,
is amended by adding Section 370.1791 to read as follows:
Sec. 370.1791. CONSTRUCTION OF TRANSPORTATION PROJECT BY
CERTAIN AUTHORITIES PROHIBITED. An authority may not construct a
transportation project if the authority operates a turnpike project
that does not provide at least one adjacent nontolled lane of
frontage road for each direction of travel of the turnpike project.
SECTION 2. Section 370.1791, Transportation Code, as added
by this Act, applies only to a transportation project for which a
contract for financing, construction, or operation is entered into
on or after the effective date of this Act.
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect December 1, 2017.
