9 | 9 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
10 | 10 | SECTION 1. Section 42.155, Education Code, is amended by | |
11 | 11 | adding Subsection (m) to read as follows: | |
12 | 12 | (m) A school district that is required to take action under | |
13 | 13 | Chapter 41 to reduce its wealth per student to the equalized wealth | |
14 | 14 | level is entitled to a credit, in the amount of the allotments to | |
15 | 15 | which the district is entitled under this section, against the | |
16 | 16 | total amount required under Section 41.093 for the district to | |
17 | 17 | purchase attendance credits. The commissioner may adopt rules | |
18 | 18 | necessary to implement this subsection. | |
19 | 19 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2017, if this | |
20 | 20 | Act receives a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each | |
21 | 21 | house, as provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. | |
22 | 22 | If this Act does not receive the vote necessary to take effect | |
23 | 23 | September 1, 2017, this Act takes effect on the 91st day after the | |
24 | 24 | last day of the legislative session. |
