| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, A life lived with joy and purpose drew to a close |

| 6 | 7 | | with the passing of Pamela M. Phelps of Center on June 8, 2017, at |

| 7 | 8 | | the age of 61; and |

| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, The only daughter of Harvey and Mary Sutton, the |
|---|
| 9 | 10 | | former Pam Sutton was born in Galveston County, where she grew up |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | with the companionship of her brothers, Richard and Russell; and |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | WHEREAS, In 1975 she wed Jerry Phelps, with whom she shared a |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | rewarding marriage that spanned four decades; the couple became the |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | proud parents of two children, Valerie and Nathan, and with the |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | passing years, Mrs. Phelps had the privilege of seeing her family |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | grow to include four grandchildren, Maggie, Mollie Kate, Kiptyn, |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | and Baylin; and |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | WHEREAS, Shortly after their wedding, Mr. and Mrs. Phelps |

| 18 | 19 | | moved to Center and formed a circle of close friends; Mrs. Phelps |

| 19 | 20 | | was active in her community, serving as executive director of the |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | Shelby County Chamber of Commerce and in leadership roles with the |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | Beta Sigma Phi sorority, and with her congregation at First United |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | Methodist Church; she also held a realtor's license and worked with |
|---|
| 23 | 24 | | Town and Country Real Estate; and |
|---|
| 24 | 25 | | WHEREAS, Mrs. Phelps was a skilled cook and a gracious host, |

| 25 | 26 | | and she enjoyed entertaining guests whether at home or on the |
|---|
| 26 | 27 | | Bolivar Peninsula, where her family vacationed every summer; and |
|---|
| 27 | 28 | | WHEREAS, A natural caretaker and a devoted friend to many, |

| 28 | 29 | | Pam Phelps brightened the world for all who knew her, and they will |
|---|
| 29 | 30 | | forever hold her close in their hearts; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 30 | 31 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas |

| 31 | 32 | | Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the memory |
|---|
| 32 | 33 | | of Pamela M. Phelps and extend heartfelt sympathy to all who mourn |

| 33 | 34 | | her passing; and, be it further |

| 34 | 35 | | RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
