5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Johnnie I. Krajca of Ennis passed away on July 15, |

6 | 7 | | 2017, at the age of 84, bringing a great loss to his family, his |

7 | 8 | | friends, and the many fans of his long-running Czech music program; |

9 | 10 | | WHEREAS, The son of John and Julia Krajca, Johnnie Krajca was |
---|
10 | 11 | | born on November 7, 1932, and grew up in Creechville and Telico; he |
---|
11 | 12 | | graduated from St. John High School, and from 1953 to 1955, he |
---|
12 | 13 | | served his country in the Korean War; he went on to work for the |
---|
13 | 14 | | Union Pacific Railroad, Larkin, and Flintkote, and he also |
---|
14 | 15 | | delivered Jax beer in Ellis County, drove the St. John school bus, |
---|
15 | 16 | | and found additional employment as a mail carrier for the U.S. |
---|
16 | 17 | | Postal Service and as a sales representative for SPJST life |
---|
17 | 18 | | insurance and RVOS homeowners' insurance; and |
---|
18 | 19 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Krajca married the former Margaret Ann Martinek |
---|
19 | 20 | | on August 11, 1956, and they were blessed with four daughters, Rita, |

20 | 21 | | Marlene, Laure, and Allis; through the years, their family grew to |

21 | 22 | | include two additional generations; and |
---|
22 | 23 | | WHEREAS, Proud of his Czech heritage, Mr. Krajca played polka |
---|
23 | 24 | | music on radio station KBEC for more than 48 years and helped found |
---|
24 | 25 | | the King and Queen Dance Contest at the annual National Polka |

25 | 26 | | Festival; he was a generous supporter and mentor to local |
---|
26 | 27 | | musicians, and he was honored by the Texas Czech Heritage and |
---|
27 | 28 | | Cultural Center for his contributions; in addition, he was a valued |
---|
28 | 29 | | member of St. John Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus, the |
---|
29 | 30 | | American Legion, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, SPJST Lodge No. 25, |

30 | 31 | | KJT Society No. 35, RVOS Lodge No. 51, SOKOL, and WFLA; and |

31 | 32 | | WHEREAS, Johnnie Krajca brought joy to innumerable people by |

32 | 33 | | sharing his love of Czech music, and those who were privileged to |

33 | 34 | | know him will forever remember his kindness, good humor, and great |

34 | 35 | | devotion to his family; now, therefore, be it |
