45 R E S O L U T I O N
56 WHEREAS, Johnnie I. Krajca of Ennis passed away on July 15,
67 2017, at the age of 84, bringing a great loss to his family, his
78 friends, and the many fans of his long-running Czech music program;
89 and
910 WHEREAS, The son of John and Julia Krajca, Johnnie Krajca was
1011 born on November 7, 1932, and grew up in Creechville and Telico; he
1112 graduated from St. John High School, and from 1953 to 1955, he
1213 served his country in the Korean War; he went on to work for the
1314 Union Pacific Railroad, Larkin, and Flintkote, and he also
1415 delivered Jax beer in Ellis County, drove the St. John school bus,
1516 and found additional employment as a mail carrier for the U.S.
1617 Postal Service and as a sales representative for SPJST life
1718 insurance and RVOS homeowners' insurance; and
1819 WHEREAS, Mr. Krajca married the former Margaret Ann Martinek
1920 on August 11, 1956, and they were blessed with four daughters, Rita,
2021 Marlene, Laure, and Allis; through the years, their family grew to
2122 include two additional generations; and
2223 WHEREAS, Proud of his Czech heritage, Mr. Krajca played polka
2324 music on radio station KBEC for more than 48 years and helped found
2425 the King and Queen Dance Contest at the annual National Polka
2526 Festival; he was a generous supporter and mentor to local
2627 musicians, and he was honored by the Texas Czech Heritage and
2728 Cultural Center for his contributions; in addition, he was a valued
2829 member of St. John Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus, the
2930 American Legion, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, SPJST Lodge No. 25,
3031 KJT Society No. 35, RVOS Lodge No. 51, SOKOL, and WFLA; and
3132 WHEREAS, Johnnie Krajca brought joy to innumerable people by
3233 sharing his love of Czech music, and those who were privileged to
3334 know him will forever remember his kindness, good humor, and great
3435 devotion to his family; now, therefore, be it
3536 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
3637 Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the life of
3738 Johnnie I. Krajca and extend sincere sympathy to the members of his
3839 family: to his wife, Margaret Krajca; to his daughters, Rita
3940 Holland and her husband, Keith, Marlene Clark, Laure Krajca and her
4041 husband, Greg Crow, and Allis Droste and her husband, Tom; to his
4142 grandchildren, Brian Holland, April Holland and Clint Wyatt, Jake
4243 Holland and Jessica, Miranda Henson and Grant, Raychel Walker and
4344 Austin, Madeline and Erica Clark, Jerrod Ryan and Sarah, Blake
4445 Ryan and Haley, and Brandon and Amanda Droste; to his
4546 great-grandchildren, Austen, Madison, and Maison Holland, Luke and
4647 June Holland, Garrett Wyatt, Beau, Winnie, and Clark Henson, and
4748 Kalynn Ryan; and to his other relatives and friends; and, be it
4849 further
4950 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
5051 prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
5152 Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Johnnie
5253 Krajca.
