45 R E S O L U T I O N
56 WHEREAS, A full and generous life drew to a close with the
67 passing of John Benard Fisher III of Corpus Christi on June 11,
78 2017, at the age of 82; and
89 WHEREAS, The son of Erna and John B. Fisher, Mr. Fisher was
910 born in Kingsville on March 1, 1935; after graduating from
1011 H. M. King High School, he went on to earn his bachelor's degree in
1112 1957 from Texas A&M University, where he was a member of the Corps
1213 of Cadets; he married the former Jacqueline Stewart in 1958, and the
1314 couple began their life together at Fort Lewis in Washington state,
1415 where Mr. Fisher was serving on active duty in the U.S. Army; and
1516 WHEREAS, After returning to Texas, Mr. Fisher embarked on a
1617 career as an educator and taught in Calvert and Premont; he later
1718 worked for Central Power and Light for more than a decade before
1819 becoming the marketing director for State National Bank of
1920 Robstown; in 1993, he and Mrs. Fisher purchased the Fortuna Bay Bed
2021 and Breakfast in Corpus Christi, which they ran together before
2122 retiring in 2015; and
2223 WHEREAS, Over the years, this notable Texan gave generously
2324 of his time and talents to a host of worthy causes and
2425 organizations; he served as president of the Robstown Rotary Club
2526 and as a member of the Calallen High School Booster Club board, sat
2627 on several committees for the Nueces County Junior Livestock Show,
2728 and held membership in the Padre Island Business Association; a man
2829 of deep faith, he was also active in his church; and
2930 WHEREAS, Mr. Fisher was a devoted husband to his wife,
3031 Jackie, with whom he shared a rewarding marriage that spanned
3132 nearly six decades; he was also the proud father of three daughters,
3233 Melissa Feinstein, Martha Durham, and Margaret Sita, and a son,
3334 Michael Fisher, and he took great delight in his nine grandchildren
3435 and five great-grandchildren; and
3536 WHEREAS, Although John Fisher will be deeply missed, he has
3637 left his family and friends with countless cherished memories, and
3738 they will forever hold him close in their hearts; now, therefore, be
3839 it
3940 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
4041 Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the memory
4142 of John Benard Fisher III and extend heartfelt sympathy to his loved
4243 ones and many friends; and, be it further
4344 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
4445 prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
4546 Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of John
4647 Fisher.
