| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, A full and generous life drew to a close with the |

| 6 | 7 | | passing of John Benard Fisher III of Corpus Christi on June 11, |

| 7 | 8 | | 2017, at the age of 82; and |

| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, The son of Erna and John B. Fisher, Mr. Fisher was |
|---|
| 9 | 10 | | born in Kingsville on March 1, 1935; after graduating from |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | H. M. King High School, he went on to earn his bachelor's degree in |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | 1957 from Texas A&M University, where he was a member of the Corps |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | of Cadets; he married the former Jacqueline Stewart in 1958, and the |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | couple began their life together at Fort Lewis in Washington state, |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | where Mr. Fisher was serving on active duty in the U.S. Army; and |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | WHEREAS, After returning to Texas, Mr. Fisher embarked on a |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | career as an educator and taught in Calvert and Premont; he later |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | worked for Central Power and Light for more than a decade before |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | becoming the marketing director for State National Bank of |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | Robstown; in 1993, he and Mrs. Fisher purchased the Fortuna Bay Bed |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | and Breakfast in Corpus Christi, which they ran together before |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | retiring in 2015; and |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | WHEREAS, Over the years, this notable Texan gave generously |
|---|
| 23 | 24 | | of his time and talents to a host of worthy causes and |
|---|
| 24 | 25 | | organizations; he served as president of the Robstown Rotary Club |
|---|
| 25 | 26 | | and as a member of the Calallen High School Booster Club board, sat |
|---|
| 26 | 27 | | on several committees for the Nueces County Junior Livestock Show, |
|---|
| 27 | 28 | | and held membership in the Padre Island Business Association; a man |
|---|
| 28 | 29 | | of deep faith, he was also active in his church; and |
|---|
| 29 | 30 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Fisher was a devoted husband to his wife, |
|---|
| 30 | 31 | | Jackie, with whom he shared a rewarding marriage that spanned |
|---|
| 31 | 32 | | nearly six decades; he was also the proud father of three daughters, |
|---|
| 32 | 33 | | Melissa Feinstein, Martha Durham, and Margaret Sita, and a son, |
|---|
| 33 | 34 | | Michael Fisher, and he took great delight in his nine grandchildren |
|---|
| 34 | 35 | | and five great-grandchildren; and |
|---|
| 35 | 36 | | WHEREAS, Although John Fisher will be deeply missed, he has |

| 36 | 37 | | left his family and friends with countless cherished memories, and |
|---|
| 37 | 38 | | they will forever hold him close in their hearts; now, therefore, be |

| 39 | 40 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas |

| 40 | 41 | | Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the memory |

| 41 | 42 | | of John Benard Fisher III and extend heartfelt sympathy to his loved |

| 42 | 43 | | ones and many friends; and, be it further |
