45 R E S O L U T I O N
56 WHEREAS, Cane Island in Katy has been honored by Where to
67 Retire magazine with inclusion on that publication's list of the 50
78 best master-planned communities in the United States; and
89 WHEREAS, Following a nine-month review process by Where to
910 Retire editors, Cane Island was selected for recognition from among
1011 hundreds of communities across the country; and
1112 WHEREAS, Established and managed by Rise Communities, Cane
1213 Island encompasses 1,100 acres and features a variety of homes for
1314 young families and retirees, as well as a host of impressive
1415 amenities and myriad services and activities for its residents;
1516 less than a year after it opened, the development won the 2016
1617 Community of the Year PRISM Award from the Greater Houston Builders
1718 Association, with additional accolades for its entrance design,
1819 recreation center, and landscape design; and
1920 WHEREAS, Master-planned communities make significant
2021 contributions to the quality of life in the Lone Star State, and
2122 Cane Island is indeed an exemplar of Texas community planning at its
2223 most creative; now, therefore, be it
2324 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
2425 Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby congratulate Cane Island on
2526 its selection as one of the 50 best master-planned communities in
2627 the United States by Where to Retire magazine and extend to all
2728 those involved with the community sincere best wishes for continued
2829 success; and, be it further
2930 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
3031 prepared for Cane Island as an expression of high regard by the
3132 Texas House of Representatives.
