55 R E S O L U T I O N
66 WHEREAS, A rich and purposeful life drew to a close with the
77 passing of Bettye J. Glover of Cedar Park on July 3, 2017, at the age
88 of 80; and
99 WHEREAS, The daughter of Jerry and Carolyn Jarrell, the
1010 former Bettye Jarrell was born on February 18, 1937, in Wink, and
1111 she grew up with the companionship of her sister, Gwendelyn; after
1212 graduating as valedictorian of the Winters High School Class of
1313 1955, she wed William Sanders Glover Jr., and the couple shared a
1414 rewarding 13-year marriage before his death in 1968; Mrs. Glover
1515 was a devoted mother to her children, Sandra, Angela, Jerry, and
1616 William, and she also knew the joy of welcoming into her family
1717 seven grandchildren and a great-grandson; and
1818 WHEREAS, After relocating to Austin, Mrs. Glover received
1919 her real estate agent's and broker's licenses, and she went on to
2020 co-own B and G Properties with her longtime friend, Ginny Bronson;
2121 and
2222 WHEREAS, A talented cook, Mrs. Glover maintained a vast
2323 collection of cookbooks and spent many happy hours baking and
2424 preparing meals for friends and loved ones; she was also an avid
2525 sports fan who often attended Texas Longhorns football games and
2626 closely followed the fortunes of her favorite professional team,
2727 the Dallas Cowboys; moreover, she took great delight in nurturing
2828 her six beloved cats, collecting antiques, gardening, and reading
2929 mystery novels; and
3030 WHEREAS, Although Bettye Glover will be deeply missed, those
3131 who were privileged to share in her love and friendship will forever
3232 remember the joy and kindness she brought into their lives; now,
3333 therefore, be it
3434 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
3535 Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the memory
3636 of Bettye J. Glover and extend heartfelt sympathy to all who mourn
3737 her passing; and, be it further
3838 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
3939 prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of
4040 Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Bettye
4141 Glover.
