R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Merrit Mitchell of White Deer High School
distinguished herself through her notable performance at the
University Interscholastic League 1A Girls Golf State Tournament,
held May 15-16, 2017, in Austin; and
WHEREAS, Competing alongside other top high school golfers in
Texas at Lions Municipal Golf Course, Ms. Mitchell posted a two-day
total of 197 strokes with rounds of 94 and 103 to finish in a tie for
16th place and claim medalist honors; she earned her place in this
elite contest with an impressive showing at the 1A Region I
tournament in Lubbock, where she finished in fifth place; and
WHEREAS, Through hard work, skill, and an unwavering
commitment to excellence, this talented student-athlete has ably
represented her school and notched an achievement that she can
remember with deep satisfaction for years to come; now, therefore,
be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby congratulate Merrit
Mitchell on medaling at the 2017 UIL 1A Girls Golf State Tournament
and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be
it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Ms. Mitchell as an expression of high regard by the
Texas House of Representatives.
