| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, The members of Abiding Faith Baptist Church in |

| 6 | 7 | | Missouri City are gathering on October 15, 2017, to celebrate the |

| 7 | 8 | | 25th anniversary of their church's founding; and |
|---|
| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, A group of 93 believers led by the Reverend Bobby |

| 9 | 10 | | R. Morgan established Abiding Faith Baptist Church on October 18, |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | 1992; congregants originally met to worship on the campus of |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | Briargate Elementary School, and services were later held at |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | Willowridge High School until a permanent house of prayer was |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | secured in 1997; and |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | WHEREAS, Since the church's founding, members have shown |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | their generosity in several capital campaigns, which have enabled |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | the church to acquire and build on new property; the current |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | sanctuary was constructed in 2006, and today, it serves a |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | congregation of more than 700 people; and |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | WHEREAS, In addition to benefiting from the steadfast |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | leadership of Reverend Morgan, Abiding Faith has been supported by |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | the dedicated efforts of a number of associate ministers who have |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | served under his guidance; over the years, a host of ministries and |
|---|
| 23 | 24 | | auxiliaries have been formed, providing members with myriad |
|---|
| 24 | 25 | | opportunities for fellowship, evangelism, and outreach; among |
|---|
| 25 | 26 | | these groups are the Abiding Faith Evangelistic Action Team, the |
|---|
| 26 | 27 | | Christian Challengers, and ministries for the young and the young |
|---|
| 27 | 28 | | at heart; moreover, the church oversees an education department, a |
|---|
| 28 | 29 | | music department, and numerous other programs and committees; and |
|---|
| 29 | 30 | | WHEREAS, For a quarter century, Abiding Faith Baptist Church |
|---|
| 30 | 31 | | has served as a beacon of inspiration and a source of spiritual |
|---|
| 31 | 32 | | enrichment to numerous area residents, and it is a pleasure to join |

| 32 | 33 | | in honoring the church at this special time in its history; now, |

| 34 | 35 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas |
