5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, For 30 years, Camp Kadima in El Paso has provided |

6 | 7 | | children and adults with special needs the chance to experience the |

7 | 8 | | fun, excitement, and friendship of a summer camp; and |

8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Camp Kadima is a three-week-long summer day camp |
---|
9 | 10 | | designed to accommodate persons with a range of physical and |
---|
10 | 11 | | developmental disabilities; supported and overseen by the Jewish |
---|
11 | 12 | | Federation of Greater El Paso, the camp hosted its first season in |
---|
12 | 13 | | 1987, and now it has grown from five to nearly 30 campers, some of |
---|
13 | 14 | | whom have attended the camp almost since it opened; and |
---|
14 | 15 | | WHEREAS, Activities that foster the development of motor, |
---|
15 | 16 | | communication, and social skills are offered both on and off |
---|
16 | 17 | | campus, and campers, who are encouraged to participate in |
---|
17 | 18 | | activities to the best of their abilities, have the opportunity to |
---|
18 | 19 | | learn practical skills that can help them live more independently; |

20 | 21 | | WHEREAS, Now led by Robin Gold, administrator, and Tom |

21 | 22 | | Murphy, director, Camp Kadima is helping individuals with |

22 | 23 | | disabilities learn, grow, and create memories that will last a |

23 | 24 | | lifetime, and all those involved in this exemplary program may take |

24 | 25 | | great pride in all that they are achieving; now, therefore, be it |

25 | 26 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas |

26 | 27 | | Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby honor Camp Kadima on its |

27 | 28 | | 30th anniversary and extend to the program's organizers and |

28 | 29 | | participants sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further |

29 | 30 | | RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
