45 R E S O L U T I O N
56 WHEREAS, For 30 years, Camp Kadima in El Paso has provided
67 children and adults with special needs the chance to experience the
78 fun, excitement, and friendship of a summer camp; and
89 WHEREAS, Camp Kadima is a three-week-long summer day camp
910 designed to accommodate persons with a range of physical and
1011 developmental disabilities; supported and overseen by the Jewish
1112 Federation of Greater El Paso, the camp hosted its first season in
1213 1987, and now it has grown from five to nearly 30 campers, some of
1314 whom have attended the camp almost since it opened; and
1415 WHEREAS, Activities that foster the development of motor,
1516 communication, and social skills are offered both on and off
1617 campus, and campers, who are encouraged to participate in
1718 activities to the best of their abilities, have the opportunity to
1819 learn practical skills that can help them live more independently;
1920 and
2021 WHEREAS, Now led by Robin Gold, administrator, and Tom
2122 Murphy, director, Camp Kadima is helping individuals with
2223 disabilities learn, grow, and create memories that will last a
2324 lifetime, and all those involved in this exemplary program may take
2425 great pride in all that they are achieving; now, therefore, be it
2526 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
2627 Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby honor Camp Kadima on its
2728 30th anniversary and extend to the program's organizers and
2829 participants sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further
2930 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
3031 prepared for Camp Kadima as an expression of high regard by the
3132 Texas House of Representatives.
