| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Luis C. Luna of the Clint Independent School |

| 6 | 7 | | District has been named the 2018 Secondary Teacher of the Year by |

| 7 | 8 | | the Region 19 Education Service Center; and |
|---|
| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, The winners of these prestigious annual awards are |

| 9 | 10 | | first nominated for consideration by their fellow faculty members, |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | and those who are later chosen as district Teacher of the Year |

| 11 | 12 | | become eligible for the regional honor; and |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | WHEREAS, A valued member of the faculty at Clint Junior High |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | School for the past 13 years, Dr. Luna has taught courses in Texas, |

| 14 | 15 | | U.S., and world history, and science; he has further contributed to |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | the school by coaching a variety of sports, including |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | cross-country, basketball, football, track and field, baseball, |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | and softball, at both the middle school and high school levels; he |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | holds a bachelor's degree in sports medicine from The University of |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | Texas at El Paso, a master's degree in educational administration |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | from Sul Ross State University, and a doctoral degree in education |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | from Northcentral University; and |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | WHEREAS, Luis Luna exemplifies the passion, determination, |

| 23 | 24 | | and innovative spirit that are the hallmarks of our best teachers, |

| 24 | 25 | | and he has set a standard of excellence to which all in his |

| 25 | 26 | | profession may aspire; now, therefore, be it |
