| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Residents of Atlanta, Texas, were deeply saddened by |

| 6 | 7 | | the untimely death of Mayor Keith Crow, who passed away on July 22, |

| 7 | 8 | | 2017, at the age of 61; and |
|---|
| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, The son of J. W. Crow and Emily Crow, Keith Crow was |
|---|
| 9 | 10 | | born in Atlanta on January 4, 1956, and grew up with a brother, |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | Johnny, and a sister, Elaine; he attended Atlanta High School and |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | went on to graduate from East Texas State University; becoming a |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | valued member of the business community, he established Keith Crow |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | Realty; and |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Crow was first elected mayor in 2006, and he was |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | long dedicated to civic life; for nearly four decades, he was a |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | member of the Lions Club, and he furthered the group's charitable |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | endeavors in numerous ways, selling raffle tickets, organizing |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | concessions at sports events and the Forest Festival, and donating |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | to worthy causes; he served as president, song leader, and "tail |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | twister," and he was always quick to make new and returning members |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | feel welcome, offering his ever-present smile and a hearty |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | handshake; in addition, he gave generously in support of local |
|---|
| 23 | 24 | | students and athletes who excelled and he served on the boards and |
|---|
| 24 | 25 | | steering committees of many organizations; he was active in the |
|---|
| 25 | 26 | | Atlanta Area Chamber of Commerce, which named him Man of the Year in |
|---|
| 26 | 27 | | 1985; and |
|---|
| 27 | 28 | | WHEREAS, Devoted to his family, Mr. Crow took great pride in |
|---|
| 28 | 29 | | his son, Blake, and his daughter, Lauren; he was loyal to his |
|---|
| 29 | 30 | | siblings and treated his nieces, his nephews, and their children |
|---|
| 30 | 31 | | like grandchildren of his own; a valued member of First Baptist |
|---|
| 31 | 32 | | Church, he lent his beautiful voice to the First Praise Adult Choir |
|---|
| 32 | 33 | | and Boundless Love Quartet, and countless people were inspired by |
|---|
| 33 | 34 | | the profound faith he expressed through song; and |
|---|
| 34 | 35 | | WHEREAS, Keith Crow made a lasting, positive difference in |

| 35 | 36 | | his community, and those who were privileged to know him will |
|---|
| 36 | 37 | | forever remember the joy he brought into their lives with his |
|---|
| 37 | 38 | | kindness, warmth, and wonderful sense of humor; now, therefore, be |

| 39 | 40 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas |

| 40 | 41 | | Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the memory |

| 41 | 42 | | of Keith Crow and extend sincere condolences to all who mourn his |
