45 R E S O L U T I O N
56 WHEREAS, Residents of Atlanta, Texas, were deeply saddened by
67 the untimely death of Mayor Keith Crow, who passed away on July 22,
78 2017, at the age of 61; and
89 WHEREAS, The son of J. W. Crow and Emily Crow, Keith Crow was
910 born in Atlanta on January 4, 1956, and grew up with a brother,
1011 Johnny, and a sister, Elaine; he attended Atlanta High School and
1112 went on to graduate from East Texas State University; becoming a
1213 valued member of the business community, he established Keith Crow
1314 Realty; and
1415 WHEREAS, Mr. Crow was first elected mayor in 2006, and he was
1516 long dedicated to civic life; for nearly four decades, he was a
1617 member of the Lions Club, and he furthered the group's charitable
1718 endeavors in numerous ways, selling raffle tickets, organizing
1819 concessions at sports events and the Forest Festival, and donating
1920 to worthy causes; he served as president, song leader, and "tail
2021 twister," and he was always quick to make new and returning members
2122 feel welcome, offering his ever-present smile and a hearty
2223 handshake; in addition, he gave generously in support of local
2324 students and athletes who excelled and he served on the boards and
2425 steering committees of many organizations; he was active in the
2526 Atlanta Area Chamber of Commerce, which named him Man of the Year in
2627 1985; and
2728 WHEREAS, Devoted to his family, Mr. Crow took great pride in
2829 his son, Blake, and his daughter, Lauren; he was loyal to his
2930 siblings and treated his nieces, his nephews, and their children
3031 like grandchildren of his own; a valued member of First Baptist
3132 Church, he lent his beautiful voice to the First Praise Adult Choir
3233 and Boundless Love Quartet, and countless people were inspired by
3334 the profound faith he expressed through song; and
3435 WHEREAS, Keith Crow made a lasting, positive difference in
3536 his community, and those who were privileged to know him will
3637 forever remember the joy he brought into their lives with his
3738 kindness, warmth, and wonderful sense of humor; now, therefore, be
3839 it
3940 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
4041 Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the memory
4142 of Keith Crow and extend sincere condolences to all who mourn his
4243 passing; and, be it further
4344 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
4445 prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
4546 Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Keith Crow.
